The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary.

1 ^{▼▼ Or God shall}Let ^bGod arise, ^{▼▼ Or His enemies shall}let His enemies be scattered,
And ^{▼▼ Or those who hate Him shall}let those who hate Him flee before Him.
2 As ^esmoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As ^fwax melts before the fire,
So let the ^gwicked perish before God.
3 But let the ^hrighteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
4 Sing to God, ⁱsing praises to His name;
^{▼▼ Or Cast up a highway
,} ^kLift up a song for Him who ^lrides through the deserts,
Whose ^mname is ^{▼▼ Heb Yah}the Lord, and exult before Him.

5 A ^ofather of the fatherless and a ^pjudge ^{▼▼ Lit of}for the widows,
Is God in His ^rholy habitation.
6 God ^{▼▼ Lit makes the solitary to dwell in a house
,} ^tmakes a home for the lonely;
He ^uleads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only ^vthe rebellious dwell in a parched land.

7 O God, when You ^wwent forth before Your people,
When You ^xmarched through the wilderness, ^{▼▼ Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude}Selah.
8 The ^zearth quaked;
The ^aaheavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
^{▼▼ Lit This is Sinai which
,} ^acSinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 You ^adshed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was ^{▼▼ Lit weary}parched.
10 Your creatures settled in it;
You ^afprovided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.

11 The Lord gives the ^{▼▼ Lit word}command;
The ^ahwomen who proclaim the good tidings are a great host:
12 ^ai“Kings of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home will ^ajdivide the spoil!”
13 ^{▼▼ Lit If}When you lie down ^alamong the ^{▼▼ Or cooking stones or saddle bags}sheepfolds,
You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with glistening gold.
14 When the Almighty ^anscattered the kings ^{▼▼ Lit in it}there,
It was snowing in ^apZalmon.

15 A ^{▼▼ Or mighty mountain is
,} ^armountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;
A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.
16 Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks,
At the mountain which God has ^asdesired for His abode?
Surely ^atthe Lord will dwell there forever.
17 The ^auchariots of God are ^{▼▼ Lit twice ten thousand}myriads, ^awthousands upon thousands;
^{▼▼ Another reading is The Lord came from Sinai into the sanctuary}The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
18 You have ^ayascended on high, You have ^azled captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among men,
Even among the rebellious also, that ^{▼▼ Heb Yah}the Lord God may dwell there.

19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily ^bbbears our burden,
^bcThe God who is our salvation. Selah.
20 God is to us a ^bdGod of deliverances;
And ^beto ^{▼▼ Heb YHWH, usually rendered Lord}God the Lord belong escapes ^{▼▼ I.e. in view of; lit for}from death.
21 Surely God will ^bhshatter the head of His enemies,
The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.
22 The Lord ^{▼▼ Or says}said, ^bj“I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;
23 That ^{▼▼ Some versions render, you may bathe your foot in blood
,} ^blyour foot may shatter them in blood,
The tongue of your ^bmdogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

24 They have seen ^bnYour ^{▼▼ Lit goings}procession, O God,
The ^{▼▼ Lit goings}procession of my God, my King, ^{▼▼ Lit in the sanctuary; or in holiness
,} ^brinto the sanctuary.
25 The ^bssingers went on, the musicians after them,
^{▼▼ Or The maidens in the midst}In the midst of the ^bumaidens beating tambourines.
26 ^bvBless God in the congregations,
Even the Lord, you who are of the ^bwfountain of Israel.
27 There is ^bxBenjamin, the ^{▼▼ Or smallest}youngest, ^{▼▼ Or their ruler}ruling them,
The princes of Judah in their throng,
The princes of ^caZebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

28 ^{▼▼ Some mss read Command, God}Your God has ^cccommanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, O God, ^cdwho have acted ^{▼▼ Lit for us}on our behalf.
29 ^{▼▼ Or From Your temple}Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
^cgKings will bring gifts to You.
30 Rebuke the ^chbeasts ^{▼▼ Lit of}in the reeds,
The herd of ^cjbulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling under foot the pieces of silver;
He has ^ckscattered the peoples who delight in war.
31 Envoys will come out of ^clEgypt;

,} ^cnEthiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

32 Sing to God, O ^cokingdoms of the earth,
^cpSing praises to the Lord, Selah.
33 To Him who ^cqrides upon the ^{▼▼ Lit heaven of heavens of old
,} ^cshighest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, ^ctHe ^{▼▼ Lit gives forth}speaks forth with His voice, a ^cvmighty voice.
34 ^cwAscribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel
And ^cxHis strength is in the ^{▼▼ Lit clouds}skies.
35 ^{▼▼ Or Awesome is God from your sanctuary}O God, You are ^daawesome from Your ^{▼▼ Lit holy places}sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself ^dcgives strength and power to the people.
